A John Marquis brace and strikes from Tommy Rowe and Mathieu Baudry helped Rovers to a 4-1 triumph at Brisbane Road which kept them six points clear atop League Two with eight games to go.

It took time for Rovers to hit their stride after being pegged back at the break but they showed no mercy in the second half.

"Once we got the second goal we were pretty ruthless," Ferguson said.

"In the first half we didn't do the basics well enough, we were a bit ill-disciplined in the sense

"I did speak before the game about being aggressive and trying to play the first half as we did the second in terms of winning the half. We thought that would make it hard for them.

"But we were a bit too open to the counterattack so we just said at half time do the basics right, be a bit more concentrated and disciplined and of course we knew we'd get chances.

"We missed three really good ones at 1-1 but the second goal came from great pressing and it was fantastic finish, outstanding.

"And the third one killed it.

"There was no complacency on our part. We'd spoken about that earlier in the week.

"It was the next game so it was the toughest one, which is how we look at it. The next one is the toughest.

"But it's a fantastic win, four goals, 78 points. We're in the right place at a pivotal time of the season."
