Doncaster RLFC v Keighley Cougars: Carr and Castle ruled out for Dons

Strong-running prop Mark Castle will also miss Sunday’s League One clash against Keighley Cougars at the Keepmoat Stadium (3pm).

“It’s the same ankle he had trouble with prior to the Hemel game but it’s not the same injury,” said caretaker coach Pete Green, who expects Castle to be out for two-three weeks.

Connor Scott will come in for Castle with Jordan Howden, left out by former boss Gary Thornton in his last game in charge, returning at stand-off.

“I don’t think that Jordan has produced the form he showed last year but you could say that about some other players,” said Green.

Looking ahead to the Keighley game, Green said: “They’ve got a big back and they run hard and strong and we’ve got to match them.

“They’ve also got some good backs and scrum-half Matty Beharrell - a player we looked at during the close season - is a very good organiser.

“They are a bit like us in that they score a lot of points but they can also let a few points in as well. I think the side which defends the better on the day will win the game.”

Tomorrow’s game will be the second time this season that the two clubs – who clashed on the opening day of the campaign in the iPro Cup at Cougar Park – have met with the West Yorkshire side coming from behind to run out 30-22 winners.

“We led at half time but they blew us away in the opening 10-15 minutes of the second half as a result of us switching off and we’ve done that in several other games since,” said Green, who will again pack down at loose-forward.

“We need to consistently play for the full 80 minutes – especially against the strongest teams like Keighley.”
