The Leicester City striker has become one of the hottest properties in football this season, with a huge haul of goals helping the Foxes to the top of the Premiership table.

Now movie makers want to turn his meteoric rise to fame into a film - and Doncaster singer and footy fan Louis, 24, is being tipped to star as the 29-year-old marksman, according to reports.

Screenwriter Adrian Butchart, who wrote football film Goal, released in 2007, is interested in penning a new story about Vardy's career from non-league with South Yorkshire side Stocksbridge Park Steels to the most prolific English striker in the country.

According to the Daily Mail, Butchart is planning a visit to England in the next week and will look to meet former City boss Nigel Pearson, the man responsible for splashing £1 million on the striker from Fleetwood Town, plus England boss Roy Hodgson and may also take in Leicester matches at the King Power Stadium.

One Direction star Tomlinson, who became a dad for the first time at the weekend, is a keen football fan, playing for Doncaster Rovers in a reserve team game and making a failed takeover attempt at the club with former chairman John Ryan in 2014.

The singer showed his support for the City striker when he broke Ruud Van Nistelrooy's Premier League goal scoring record in November against Manchester United by sending him a tweet congratulating him on the feat.

Butchart is reported as saying:“'We are looking at a few actors. Zac Effron and Robert Pattinson are two favorites, however One Direction's Louis Tomlinson is also very much on our radar, he's apparently a great footballer, he can act and he's from South Yorkshire so the accent won't be a problem for him.

“In fact we hear he's a Jamie Vardy fan, he even tweeted Jamie when he broke the goal scoring record in November."

Oscar winner Richard Halsey, responsible for film-editing the Rocky film, is also keen on teaming up with Butchart according to the Mail with the likes of Warner Brothers, Disney and Universal all interested in footing the bill.
