Church gets busy for two charities

members of St Nicholas Church, Bawtry, are collecting items of food during Lent to be donated to a local food bank. A box has been placed at the back of the church into which donations of sugar, jars and tins can be left until Sunday, March 24.

The church is also hosting a cafe on Saturday to raise funds for Comic Relief, where children can decorate a biscuit for 50p and enter a comeptition to make three fairy cakes on a comic theme.

Bin blaze

fire crews called to a house on Thorne Road, Wheatley, on Saturday evening found a wheelie bin had been deliberately set alight but they managed to prevent flames spreading to other property.

Nordic walk

forest rangers are holding a Nordic walking session at Brodsworth Community Woodland on Saturday from 10.30am as part of the Get Doncaster Walking festival. To book a place call 07768 808432.

Drop in

have Your Say drop-in sessions with police and council officers will take place at Everingham Road shops, Cantley, from 11am to 12.30pm on Thursday.
