Motorists in Doncaster are being warned of more town centre roadworks and road closures from next week.
Essential carriageway resurfacing works are to take place during the night at the Markets Roundabout and Chappell Drive for two weeks starting on Monday 28 September.
It comes after the long-running repairs on nearby St George’s Bridge which caused months of motoring misery were recently completed.
The improvements will include the excavation and resurfacing of the carriageway and will be carried out between 7.30pm and 6am to minimise disruption for road users.
During these night time works the roundabout will be reduced to one lane so the works can take place safely.
As well as the resurfacing work, a section of kerbing and drainage works will be carried out on Chappell Drive.
To enable this work to be completed there will be no access via the roundabout on the nights of Monday 28 September and Monday 5 October.
A temporary diversion removing the ‘one way’ order at the junction of Church Way, immediately after the petrol station, will provide access to Chappell Drive until 6am the following morning when normal access is restored.
Peter Dale, Director of Regeneration and Environment, said: “This important work will complement the recently completed St George’s Bridge works and provide road users with a better experience.
“The works are taking place during the evening and through the night to minimise disruption but we do ask people bear with us until they are finished.”
