Doncaster Knights: Maintaining standards is key - Quigley

Quigley rarely finds himself on the scoresheet or wins man-of-the-match awards but his teammates and coaching staff are fully aware of his contribution to the club's success.

“The pack as a whole have been playing very well this season,” said the 34-year-old.

“We’ve got a very experienced pack and there is a lot of competition for places and we feel as though we have to go out and prove ourselves every week to retain our place.

“We’ve been working hard in training all week and then getting the rewards at the weekend and we’ve got to keep on doing that.”

Quigley was one of a number of regulars who started last weekend’s B&I Cup game at Connacht Eagles on the bench but is expected to be packing down from the start in the club’s final Pool 5 game against Jersey at Castle Park on Saturday.

The three previous games against the Islanders this season have been close – two ended in draws – and Quigley is expecting another tough battle this weekend.

“Like us, they’ve got a very strong pack so it’s going to be quite a battle up front,” he predicted.

Being a former Rotherham favourite, Quigley is eagerly looking forward to the league clash between the two sides at Castle Park on Sunday week – as are several other ex-Titans on the books.

But he stresses that he is looking no further ahead than the visit of Jersey.

“We have been very good at just concentrating on the next game this season whether that be the league or the B&I Cup,” he said.

“We don’t look too far ahead and just take each game as it comes.”

Knights are going very well in league and cup but Quigley warns there is no room for complacency.

He said: “Things are going to get even harder because no-one is going to treat us lightly, given our record this season.

“That means we have to produce our A-game every week.”
