But Doncaster Knights prop Richard List claims their players will earn their money in Sunday’s top-of-the-table clash at Castle Park.

Knights have lost just once in the league at home in the 2105-16 campaign – against London Welsh on the opening day of the season – and it’s a record List and his fellow forwards are proud of.

“We spoke in pre-season about making Castle Park a fortress and we’ve done that,” said the prop. “We try to nullify the threat posed by the opposition forwards.

“It’s our castle, if you like, we are defending and we tried to be aggressive against all the visiting teams and it will be the same in our remaining home games.”

Although the odds are stacked against Knights pipping Bristol for top spot, victory in this weekend’s televised clash would go a long way towards them retaining second spot.

It would also serve as a psychological boost ahead of the play-offs as it would complete a hat-trick of wins over last season’s beaten finalists.

Knights will go into the game on a 12-match unbeaten run in the Championship – a sequence which includes an impressive 39-27 win over Bristol at Ashton Gate back in early November.

It was a scoreline which earned Knights a bonus point win and left the home side empty-handed.

List is confident that Knights can complete their first-ever double over one of the most famous names in English rugby over the years.

“We’ve beaten them down there so why can’t we do it at Castle Park?” he questioned.

Knights ran out winners when the sides met in the quarter-final of last season’s B & I Cup at Castle Park.
