Doncaster Knights: Form goes out of the window for Titans clash - Kenworthy

Doncaster Knights are unbeaten in the league for nearly four months and had gone 12 league and cup games unbeaten until sufferering a last-minute B&I Cup defeat against Jersey last weekend, whereas Rotherham Titans have lost their last seven games.

But Knights’ forward coach and former Rotherham favourite Glen Kenworthy, who admits he didn’t see the Jersey defeat coming given the club’s impressive home record, knows that form often counts for nothing in such games.

“The fact that it is a derby game evens things up,” he said.

“Even if Rotherham were bottom of the table and hadn’t won a game all year we’d still fear them because of their record against us.

“We’ve not beaten them for a very long time.

“But having said that the last three or four times we’ve played them I thought we should have won.

“They didn’t win any of the games - we lost them.

“There will be a lot of nerves on Sunday and it could come down to who makes the most mistakes.

“We’ll test them up front and they’ll test us out wide.

“The forwards have played well this season but you always want better.

“There are some good packs in this league but I’d probably put us in the top five.”

Rotherham have won the last seven successive derbies with Doncaster.
