Doncaster Knights '˜focused on the day job' - Tyson Lewis

Tyson Lewis says Doncaster Knights' win over Yorkshire Carnegie last weekend edges them closer to the Championship play-offs - but he says the squad's work-rate must not drop.

Winger Lewis echoed the thoughts of director of rugby Clive Griffiths, who has this week indicated that he thinks Knights’ play-off status is all but confirmed.

“Given something drastic I think we’ll probably be in the play-offs,” Lewis said.

“But as with everything that we’ve done we try and keep our heads, stay level-headed and take one game as it comes.

“We can’t afford to look too far ahead. If you look back at previous games, like Ealing, there have been occasions we didn’t perform.

“So for us as a team and as a squad, this club is all about getting the day job done.”

Having missed the recent derby against Rotherham Titans, Lewis was particularly motivated for the derby clash with Carnegie.

“The derby games are always good,” Lewis said.

“Obviously I missed the Rotherham game and I was champing at the bit to get back involved.

Leeds came around and everyone was up for the game and it was good fun. It was end to end stuff and it was a good enthralling game and I hope the fans enjoyed it.”

Knights’ next game is an away clash with Cornish Pirates on Sunday, February 28.
