Armitage made over 100 appearances for the Castle Park club during two spells, and played a key role in Knights’ return to the Championship following his move from Plymouth Albion in 2013.

Veikoso, who represented Fiji at the 2015 Rugby World Cup, is returning to his homeland.

Canadian locks Jon Phelan and Tyler Hotson are both departing, along with Jim Wigglesworth and Ted Stagg.

Utility front row Jack Bergmanas, who first appeared for Doncaster as an 19-year-old in November 2012, is also among the players leaving.

Scrum half Brad Field has announced his retirement from the professional game.

Knights had already confirmed that number eight Ollie Stedman will join Yorkshire Carnegie for the 2016/17 season, while prop Jake Armstrong has signed for Jersey Reds.

“I wish to sincerely thank all the boys who are leaving for their hard effort and commitment during their time at Castle Park,” director of rugby Clive Griffiths told Knights’ official website.

“It goes without saying that they have all played a massive part in our success this season and in some cases over several seasons.

“It is never easy to part company with members of the family but these tough decisions have to be made in the best interests of the club.

“I wish all the guys that are leaving every success in their future endeavours.”
