Doncaster children cook up a takeaway

Have your say

Budding young chefs at a Doncaster school will be downing pens and donning aprons tomorrow when they take part in a national cookery challenge to win a share of £5,000.

With the help of parents, teachers and members of the local community, pupils from Mattersey Primary will be joining more than 36,000 participants from across the country in the Let’s Get Cooking BIG Cookathon 2013.

All pupils, along with family and friends, will be taking part.

The contenders will be going up against over 300 school and community-based clubs in total, who will all be cooking up a healthy alternative to a popular Indian takeaway by following Let’s Get Cooking recipes for chicken or veggie korma, to win more funding for their club.
