Doncaster burglars behind bars

Two men are behind bars after pleading guilty to two burglaries and an attempted shop raid in Doncaster.

Jordan Andrewatha, aged 24, of Poplar Road, Dunscroft, and Daniel Parry, 22, of Argyll Avenue, Intake, appeared before Sheffield Crown Court on Monday to be sentenced after admitting the offences at an earlier hearing.

Andrewatha, who also pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified, was jailed for two years and nine months.

Parry was jailed for two years.

In the early hours of Monday, September 4, the pair burgled the Arksey Mini Mart in Doncaster.

A black Seat Leon was seen to leave the scene of the burglary and was stopped by officers in Mexborough area after a police chase.

Andrewatha and Parry were arrested on suspicion of burglary, with Andrewatha also arrested for driving while disqualified.

Further enquiries revealed that the same vehicle had been used in a burglary reported in the Cusworth area on Friday, September 1, where a till and cash were stolen.

It was also linked to an attempted burglary the following day at a shop in the Hatfield Woodhouse area.

PC Leanne Heath, of South Yorkshire Police, said: "Both men are now in prison for their crimes and have admitted responsibility for committing multiple offences in a short period of time.

"We are absolutely committed to tackling burglary and bringing before the courts those individuals who carry out this crime, in a bid to make our communities safer."
