The Ladies team from Doncaster Indoor Bowling Club in Hexthorpe have reached the final of a prestigious competition, the England Final of the Yetton Plate.
The team is made up of 16 women, who play for twenty one ends over a period of approximately four hours.
The competition is open to ladies of all ages and Doncaster has a number of players over sixty years of age. One player, Ann Spiby, celebrated her ninetieth birthday at the end of last month.
The Doncaster team have beaten teams from Selby, Hornsea, Darlington, and Eden in Cumbria over the last few months. In the semi final on February 28, they beat a team from Beccles (near Lowestoft) by just two shots.
The final will be played at Nottingham Indoor Bowling Club today, (March 28), when Doncaster will play a team from Honiton, Devon.
