Goals either side of the break from captain Leandra Little and Lauren Cresswell gave Emma Coates her first win as Belles manager.

A first victory of the season also handed the Belles a big boost ahead of their vital league clash at Sunderland on Saturday.

An emotional Humphrey said the win meant a lot to the group.

“This win is huge for us, a lot more than just winning in the cup,” she said.

“We’ve been after that for a while and we came back from the break with real belief.

“It was disheartening last week to lose to Notts County after playing so well, but we’re happy with that.

“The belief is key. We’ve got a bit more confidence now and focusing on ourselves rather than maybe looking too much at the opposition.

“We’ve been creating more chances and fortunately we put a couple of them away.

“When we were in the huddle at the end I could feel tears in my eyes because as a team this means a lot, and for me I’m playing regularly which is what I came here for, so this is a big win.”

Belles have been drawn away to Manchester City in the quarter-finals.
