"I was not confident at all to enter but my family and friends pushed me to go for it. To get this far in such quick time now makes me confident that I will get the crown in July."

Student Jodie auditioned at the Miss England HQ in Leicester where she was photographed and showed off her catwalk skills as well as announcing her interesting facts to the judges' panel.

Jodie then went forward to the online photographic competition on the Miss England website and competed against contestants from across the country before being selected for the semi final.

Jodie is now looking for the support of her local community to help her raise charity funds and her profile in the lead up to the semi final which takes place on June 11 at Kelham Hall and Country Park.

She is now hoping to reach the national final by being voted one of the top 10 girls in the Miss England semi-final but with over 60 girls taking part in the contest its going to be a tough competition.

The girls will be invited to participate in a Sports and Eco fashion round, where contestants are invited to create an outfit made from recycled materials as well as raising funds for the Miss World charity Beauty with a Purpose, all now part of the competition.

“The competition is about being beautiful inside and out, we are not just looking for a pretty face," said Miss England national director Angie Beasley.

The ten winners from the semi-final will win a 3 night stay at the luxury Ramada Plaza Southport hotel to compete in the 3 day Miss England national finals at the Floral Hall Southport Convention Centre.

The ultimate winner of Miss England 2016 will spend her year raising awareness for various charities and will receive a whole host of prizes worth £30,000, including a luxury holiday and a place in Miss World 2016 which boasts a prize worth £100,000 for the international winner.
