Doncaster bands join line-up at this year's Fake Festival

Five Doncaster-based bands have been chosen to play alongside the nheadline acts at this year's Fake Festival.

The Goodfellas, The Setting Sons, Ginger Tom, The 48K’s and The Settees have all been hand-picked by the owner of Fake Festivals Jez Lee to perform on the main stage at this year’s event.

The festival, which is now in its eleventh year, will return to Sandall Park, on Saturday May 6.

Jez, who is also a licensee for Sandall Park, said: “We always get such a great response to the call for submissions and have spent the past few months auditioning and speaking to the bands.

“We do like to ensure that the artist is professional, as we take the quality of our entertainment very seriously and we do not want the crowds to be disappointed.

“We feel we get the right balance of original and cover artists to give the day a bit of variety and also give these up and coming bands a chance to showcase their music.

“As well as the festival crowd, we regularly have newspapers, magazines and radio stations in attendance, giving the local bands a great platform for their talents.”

The Goodfellas will be warming up the stage for the main tributes, with their eclectic mix of covers. Taking on some classic rock like Deep Purple and Thin Lizzy and also modern artists like Kings of Leon and George Ezra, the band promise an great atmosphere on stage.

The Setting Sons will be paying homage to their idol Paul Weller and are also bringing new songs requested by their fans to their set.

Ginger Tom perform with an energetic pop-rock vibe. Whether doing covers or their own material, they always get a great response from the crowd and will be keeping the great momentum of the day going.

The 48K’s will be bringing some indie to the marquee, naming Oasis and Ocean Colour Scene as their main influences. Their performance promises to be lively and is sure to get the audience singing along.

The Settees, a heavy indie-rock band will be opening this year’s festival. The group plan on kicking the show off in style by performing their original songs to a new audience.

These bands will be supporting the main acts, Oasish, Antarctic Monkeys and Killers tribute act The Fillers.

Discounted early bird tickets are on sale until April 6 from the Fake Festivals website at www.fakefestivals.co.uk. Adult tickets cost £17.50, ten to 17-year-olds go for £10.00 and under tens can attend for free.
