Doncaster pop sensation Louis Tomlinson has blasted Doncaster Rovers over the sacking of manager Paul Dickov.

The singer, whose attempt to takeover the club with John Ryan last summer failed at the eleventh hour, took to Twitter to hit out at his home town club over the dismissal of Dickov earlier this month.

He described Rovers as “silly” and “unfair” for the decision, tweeting his disgust to his twenty million followers around the globe.

He wrote: “Still getting over the fact my beloved Donny Rovers sacked Paul Dickov! Silly silly decision! Unfair to judge him with the poor budget given!”

Dickov and Louis are thought to have become close friends and were spotted dining out in Manchester together last year.

The Bessacarrr-born singer also played for Rovers in a reserve game and took part in a Legends match for long-serving midfielder James Coppinger earlier this year.

Last year, he was listed within the playing squad but this year his name has been absent from the team line-up.

Dickov was sacked by Rovers on September 8 following a string of poor performances. Defender Rob Jones is currently in charge at the Keepmoat Stadium.
