The Children’s Sleep Charity has received the donation from the Persimmon Homes Yorkshire’s Community Champions initiative which will help fund sleep workshops and clinics across Yorkshire.
Supporting over 40,000 families each year, the charity aims to help families who have a child suffering from chronic sleep issues. The Children’s Sleep Charity has a team of seven, plus 20 volunteers who dedicate their time to delivering workshops and offering assistance to families, including specialist sleep support for children with autism.
Founder and CEO, Vicki Dawson, said: “Around 80 per cent of children with autism have sleep issues that a behavioural approach can help with. There is very little support available to help families resolve these sleep issues, and this was how the charity was established.
“We are very proud to say we have trained over 200 sleep practitioners across the country. Our volunteers offer workshops, clinics and one-to-one support to families across the Yorkshire region.

“We have a waiting list of families who are desperate for our support so Persimmon Homes Yorkshire’s generous donation will help us to continue our work.”
The Community Champions initiative aims to support activities that improve the quality of life for local people. Groups and charities who have already worked hard to raise money themselves can apply for match-funding of up to £1,000 by completing an online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity.
Simon Usher, managing director at Persimmon Homes Yorkshire, said: “We are delighted that so many worthy causes have sent in an application. Each month it is very hard to choose the recipients for the funding.
“The Children’s Sleep Charity has helped so many local families and we hope our donation will enable them to continue their fantastic work.”
