Visitors to the RSPB’s Old Moor site in South Yorkshire will be able to discover the fascinating pond life that lies in the murky depths of the reserve’s pools, thanks to a generous donation.
The nature reserve has received £2,600 from car manufacturer Toyota to build a brand new pond dipping platform after support was recommended by Barnsley car dealership Burrows Toyota.
The reserve was lucky enough to be a chosen recipient of Toyota’s national funding scheme after site manager Matthew Capper took his car in for a service.
As the national scheme has a maximum award of £2,000, the local dealership, Burrows Toyota Barnsley, decided to top up the shortfall with a local donation of £600.
Burrows also offered to volunteer staff time to help build the platform.
