LibrarY visitors are being given something to smile about.
Barnsley Central Library will be supporting National Smile Month, which runs until June 20, by hosting an Oral Health Awareness stand on Tuesday, May 29, with staff from Barnsley Community Dental Service attending.
National Smile Month is an annual campaign aimed at improving oral health and staff will be promoting the importance of good oral hygiene and the need for regular dental check-ups.
While stocks last they will be handing out free toothbrushes and toothpaste.
Figures show that more than three-fifths of adults in England visit their dentist regularly but there is still more to be done as one in 10 people in the UK are not registered with a dentist.
Martin Farran, Barnsley Council’s executive director for adult and community services, said: “Barnsley libraries are happy to be supporting this important campaign and I would encourage people to visit the stand for information and advice to make them smile.”
