As Mr Banks said, in the family favourite ‘Mary Poppins:’ “with tuppence for paper and strings, you can have your own set of wings...” Well it won’t even cost you tuppence at Chapeltown Park, on Cowley Lane, this weekend! Visitors to the park will be able to make their very own kite, completely free of charge this Saturday, when Friends of Chapeltown Park will be hosting-kite making sessions at the bandstand, from 10am to 1pm. There may even be bacon sandwiches!

- Talking ancient Egypt

Join leading Egyptologist, best-selling author and broadcaster, Professor Joann Fletcher, as she traces the development of Egypt’s ancient civilisation from its earliest inhabitants to the last of its pharaohs. From the rock art of Egypt’s first hunter-gatherers to the suicide of its legendary ruler Cleopatra, learn more about many of the sites filmed for Joann’s recent BBC series ‘Immortal Egypt’ with a talk at The Millennium Gallery on Sunday, from 2pm to 3pm, followed by a book signing.

- Votes for women talk

A talk on campaigning for votes for women in Sheffield will be given at Weston Park Museum this Saturday, from 2pm. The story of Emmeline Pankhurst and her two eldest daughters, and how they moved down to London, is well-known. But youngest daughter Adela stayed north, becoming Women’s Social and Political Union organiser for Yorkshire, basing herself in Sheffield. - A brewery experience

Take a tour around Sentinel Brewery, see how the beers and ales are made, and enjoy tasting some of them for yourself this weekend. The Brew Club’s Brewery Experience is being hosted by a group of final year students at Sheffield Hallam University, studying Events Management. The event will raise funds for Cavendish Cancer Care, and will also double up as one of the students’ course modules, at the brewery on Shoreham Street, from 6pm to 9pm this Thursday.

- Handstand masterclass

Ever fancied mastering the art of the handstand? Well, wait no more, as Sheffield’s Handstand Master Class comes to Victoria Works, on Rowland Street, this weekend, with workshops on Friday (3pm-8pm), Saturday (12pm-5pm) and Sunday (12pm-5pm). The event, which is suitable for all levels, is hosted by Salt & Water, and will guide participants through a handstand movement training program, including foundation, technique, movement, stretching and flexibility.

BIG Running Weekend is hosting a straightforward workshop this Saturday, from 10.30am to 11.45am, at Ecclesall Woods. The session will cover the key aspects of running technique, and using running drills to firmly cement the movement patterns.

This will the first of three session being run throughout the day, each helping to develop running technique. There will be plenty of ideas and things for you to take that can be incorporated into your training. There will also be the opportunity for you to ‘gear test’ a selection of trail shoes. - Lou Lou’s vintage fair

Find unique, handpicked, quality goods with stalls of vintage fashion, accessories, home, collectables and more, as some of the UK’s fintest vintage traders head to Sheffield this week for Lou Lou’s Sheffield Vintage Fair.

Head to Sheffield City Hall, in Barkers Pool, this Saturday, to pick up affordable items, support independents and grab yourself a unique piece of the past. When you’re all shopped out, visit the vintage tea room to indulge in some treats, stop by the Bombshell Sheffield salon for a vintage makeover - complete with perfect pin curls and sky-scraping beehives - and listen to live music from Rebecca Jayne, who will be belting out hits from the 40s and 50s. The fair will run from 11am to 5pm, with £2 entry payable on the door. Under 12s will be admitted for free
