I wish every success to the campaign to save the trees on Rustlings Road and have followed this news item closely since it began.
In 2014 I watched with dismay as several healthy, mature roadside trees were hacked down in Handsworth.
Some of these had been purchased by residents, others were remnants of the old Fisher, Son and Sibray Nursery. Only one tree has been replaced to date.
Don’t believe it when the council says any trees ‘removed’ will be replaced.
So I sincerely hope this campaign triumphs and prevents more civic vandalism.
