A PROJECT to help battered women in Doncaster has received a grant of more than £30,000 from South Yorkshire Police Authority.

Grants totalling £230,000 were divided between the projects under the authority’s Community Grants Scheme, and each was chosen because their work reaches and supports people across the South Yorkshire region.

Doncaster Women’s Aid can now fund two nine-month posts to maintain its services to residents of Doncaster and South Yorkshire.

The organisation last year dealt with 4,853 referrals by partners including St Leger Homes and the Children’s Assessment Service.

Remedi, a restorative justice and mediation charity, was also awarded funding.
