Doing a good job? That's laughable

I've read the Star online responses to Kevin Hanson's comments.

The notion that Sheffield’s politicians are doing a reasonable job is laughable.

This city sits comfortably at the bottom of every measure of public service effectiveness.

It provides the 136th best education in the country, adult social care is in meltdown, child sexual exploitation is widespread, air pollution is the worst in the country, and then there is the Streets Ahead farce.

Add to that debt racked up through one glorious disaster after another with nothing to show for it and it doesn’t look like Sheffield politicians are doing a reasonable job.

Sheffield’s Labour Party could not be less democratic.

They have made a show of consultations and local meetings, but in private they treat the people of this city with utter contempt.

Why did they go to court and waste our money on lawyers to stop Next and IKEA setting up in the city?

How is that working with potential contributors to the city?

If he opened his eyes he may have seen developers walk away from the Tombstone project which is regularly touted as the city’s saviour.

Only Sheffield City Council could be stupid enough to borrow another half billion to build more shops in a city now officially low waged and reliant on welfare.

You couldn’t make it up.

But no doubt people will soak up this anti-Tory propaganda without a single thought, exactly because they’ve got the 136th best education in the country.

And THAT is socialism for you.
