A dog owner has been ordered to pay a fine after failing to pick up after his dog.
David Tasker, of Reginald Road, Kendray, Barnsley, will have to pay £240 made up of a fine and costs for failing to pick up after his dog in June 2014.
The fouling was seen by a Barnsley Council dog warden, who issued Tasker with a £50 fixed penalty notice.
When Tasker faield to pay, the council took the man to court, where the penalty was increased to £100, plus a £20 victim surcharge, with costs of £120 on top.
Christina Heeley, senior officer at the council’s regulatory services, said: “If owners don’t pick up after their dog, this presents a real health risk, especially to children who could be playing in the area. Contact with dog excrement can cause a range of health problems including blindness.”
