Shocked residents who saw the post on the Lost and Found Pets in Doncaster Facebook page shared the message to alert other dog walkers in the borough.

Rangers at Sandall Beat Environment Centre and Woods are reassuring dog walkers that they are carrying out searches following the claims and urging residents to report anything suspicious.

Sandall Beat Environment Centre and Woods posted a message on their official Facebook page on Thursday that read: “We have just had contact with the owner of the dog that was injured by the carpet gripper left in our woods.

“The owner removed the gripper last night. Our Rangers and volunteers have also conducted thorough searches of the woods today and there has been no further sightings of anything dangerous.

“We hope that this does not put people off from using our woodlands.
