A charity has urged dog owners not to be encouraged to put their dogs on trampolines after the John Lewis Christmas advert showed a dog bouncing about.

The advert, released yesterday morning, tells the story of a girl called Bridget who loves to bounce on her bed.

When her mum and dad buy her a trampoline for Christmas they soon discover that she isn’t the only one with a passion for jumping as her dog Buster the Boxer joins in with the fun.

Soon after the advert was released a video compilation of dogs enjoying a good bounce was posted on YouTube.

A Dogs Trust Spokesperson says: “The sentiment behind John Lewis’ advert is a reminder that Christmas is a time that brings people together and the charity knows only too well the joy a dog can bring to a family.

"Whilst dogs will thoroughly enjoy playing with their families, we advise owners to exercise caution and not allow their dog onto a trampoline, in case of injury.”
