Plans are being drawn up to turn a disused Sheffield pub into a Tesco Express store - creating 20 new jobs in the city suburb.
Tesco plans to write to neighbours about the proposed scheme for the former pub on the corner of Stannington Road and Oldfield Road, Stannington.
Spokesman Mark Thomas said: “The Sportsman has been closed for a while as the owners have sought an alternative use for the building since it was no longer trading successfully as a pub.
“We’re happy to now be proposing plans to transform the former pub, bringing it back to life as a small Tesco Express store.
“Our store would create up to 20 jobs, make sure the building is brought back into use for the long term and serve the community with great, convenient shopping.”
