Councillors will this week confirm the disposal of Chapeltown Baths as a new £7m leisure centre with swimming pool is to be built in Sheffield.

Ecclesfield Parish Council will receive an update on the North Active project for Thorncliffe Recreation Ground in High Green from Paul Billington, head of culture and leisure at Sheffield Council, on Thursday.

They are also set to agree that a deed of release is executed and confirm that the baths site is disposed of.

Plans for the new leisure centre were submitted earlier this year.

It is to include a six-lane 25m swimming pool, a separate learner pool, a multi-use studio and a fitness suite, over two levels. It is part of the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine 2012 Olympic Legacy project.
