Disgraceful bus service

The 85 Bus service to and from High Green via Grenoside and Hillsborough is disgraceful.

It has just been revised and has stopped running across town and now terminates in the central bus station and from this change on October 31, 2016 the service has deteriorated beyond description.

Example of instances just last week which I have spent waiting for this bus on four separate bus journeys amounts to at least four hours 20 minutes!

On Monday, I waited out side Argos on Angel Street from 15:00 until 16:23 for an 85 – driver was oblivious to the fact that the last two half hourly services had failed to turn up at all and did not show on the tracker application either.

On Wednesday I went for 14:25 from High Green to Hillsborough which did not turn up at all not even late and the help line 01709 515151 could not locate the bus or even a service numbered as 85!

So in effect again we waited one hour for the infamous 85 bus.

On Friday I waited at Taplin Road for the 85 back to High Green – arrived at stop 14:05 for bus due 14:24 which didn’t not turn up. Rang and asked for tracker at 14:50 and they found and email from Rotherham bus depot to say it had been cancelled reason unknown. So I caught a bus to Sainsbury’s Wadsley Bridge – then an 8 to Ecclesfield and then on a 1A all to get to High Green and there were seven of us of having to make this same journey.

Then this morning on way to work I went for 07:12 which failed to show so was waiting from 7am to 7:45 for the 85.

This bus is only half hourly so if one misses in effect you are waiting an hour – ridiculous when it is a busy route for commuter shoppers and students.

Since Rotherham depot has took over the 85 service has got worse in both directions even though we were assured it would get better.

Any chance it could go back to three buses per hour so if one goes AWOL we are not waiting for an hour for next which is invariably packed to rafters?

I am sending this letter to gain sympathy and support for this 85 bus route passengers.

I remain unimpressed, furious and disappointed especially when I invest in a monthly bus pass.
