SONG, music, poetry and drama will be performed at an event to commemorate the 150th anniversary of a fatal explosion at a Sheffield colliery.

Six men died in the incident at Westwood Colliery, High Green.

Activities kick off with an event for pupils at High Green Primary School on Friday, March 23.

The following day, from 1pm, there will be song, music, poetry, dance and drama, and history and heritage displays, along with the unveiling of a permanent memorial in the High Green Miners’ Welfare Hall by Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Coun Sylvia Dunkley.
