Allen suffered a narrow points defeat to Lenroy Thomas at Bramall Lane on Saturday night, bringing his excellent recent momentum to a halt.

But the popular Conisbrough fighter says he will not give up on his dream of winning the British title and promised to be straight back in the gym on Tuesday.

“It’ll come in time,” Allen told IFLTV.

“Me and Mick Marsden will go back to the gym. I’m not going to go anywhere else.

“Me and Mick will continue to work to get better and one day we’ll lift the British title together.

“I’ll learn. Lenroy is a good fighter, not great but good.

“So that makes me a nearly good fighter.

“I’ve just turned 25, I’m still a boy as a heavyweight boxer.

“I’m still very much learning on the job.

“To look at it like that, to be competing with these men, I’m doing pretty well.

“But the expectation is high.”

On the fight itself, Allen said he had no qualms with the decision which saw two judges give Thomas the decision by a round while the other – Doncaster’s Howard Foster – opted for Allen by two.

He said: “I tried my best and I came out second best.

“The scorecards were fair, I can’t argue with them.

“I did more work but it wasn’t quality work.

“Lenroy got the job done and I’m happy for him.

“It wasn’t my night.”
