A MUM who used her son’s blue badge to park in a disabled space when he was not in the car has been prosecuted.
Rotherham Council took action against Shaheen Rahim, aged 36, of Hall Crescent, Rotherham.
She pleaded guilty by post at Rotherham Magistrates’ Court to using her son’s disabled person’s blue badge to park her vehicle in a pay-and-display bay on Howard Street while her son was in school in July this year.
Magistrates ordered Rahim to pay a fine of £55, plus £100 costs and a £15 surcharge.
Rotherham Council’s parking services manager, Martin Beard, said: “This is another example of illegal, anti-social parking activity, which causes inconvenience for genuine holders of blue badges.
“We will continue to investigate suspected blue badge fraud and prosecute when appropriate.”
