A MAN who tried to abduct a seven-year-old girl as she rode her bike along a South Yorkshire street has been jailed for four years.

Simon Goad, aged 46, of Riverside Court, Dinnington, attempted to abduct the little girl in Hexthorpe, Doncaster.

He asked her to get into his car, which was parked close by, but the youngster refused to go with him, ran to a nearby house and alerted an adult.

Police later arrested Goad and searched his home address where his computers were seized.

The computers were analysed by police officers and over a thousand indecent images of children were discovered, graded from one to five.

The incident happened on Friday, September 21 at around 5.30pm.

DC Andy Gray said: “We were able to identify, locate and arrest Goad almost immediately, therefore preventing him from committing any other offences against this young girl or any other child.

“Now he has been sentenced, I hope both the girl and her family are able to put this ordeal behind them and move forward with their lives.”

Goad admitted child abduction and and possessing indecent images of children at Sheffield Crown Court.
