Dickens of a job

A Sheffield accountant who recalls using a Dicken-sian-style high chair and sloping table and an adding machine "half the size of a table" has retired after 45 years' service with the same firm.

David Brown started work as a 16-year-old with local firm Hancock and Ashford in the 60s, becoming a senior accountant with the firm before it was taken over in 1987.

He has now retired, aged 62.
