FOURTEEN Doncaster roads will be closed over the next few days as communities across the borough get out and celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Doncaster Council confirmed the numbers yesterday, after compiling a definitive list of roads which will be used for street parties.

The first of the closures will be today, with more coming into force throughout the weekend and until Tuesday, the day of the actual jubilee.

Some roads will be closed on two days.

The first of the Bank Holiday weekend closures will see Pinfold Lane, Fishlake, closed from its junction with Trundle Lane to its junction with Fishlake Nab from 9am until 11pm.

Tomorrow will see road closures in St Leonard’s Close, Tickhill; The Green, Auckley; Long Close, Bessacarr, and Waterdale in the town centre.

All three are for parties, with the Waterdale event due to be the borough’s main jubilee event, marking the opening of the new civic square and including a programme of entertainment on a stage.

Monday will see The Green, Auckley, and Long Close, Bessacarr, closed for a second day.

In addition, Granby Close, Bennetthorpe; Eggington Close, Cantley; The Green, Finningley; Sandbeck Road, Bennettorpe; Ansten Crescent, Cantley; Church Lane, Adwick; and Park Crescent, Warmsworth will be closing for parties on the day.

The closures will be coming to an end on Tuesday, when Pope Avenue in Conisbrough, is closed for its party.

Doncaster Council saw a surge of last minute applications for street party road closures before its deadline passed.

And officials at the borough even extended the deadline to give more people a chance to file their applications last month.

As well as taking part in street parties, some of the communities in the borough are also dishing out commemorative mugs to children in their areas.
