This has brought £97million capital investment into the area, across all sectors, for machinery, plant, premises and infrastructure.

The figures for the financial year to the end of March were announced by the inward investment team which focuses on attracting new investors from abroad, and foreign-owned companies already in the UK and wishing to expand.

They work with the region’s local authority economic development teams to ensure businesses have a fast and simple process from deciding to invest in the region to opening the doors at their new premises.

A tailored package of support from the SCR includes help and advice on sites for offices or manufacturing; recruiting and training a skilled workforce; and even comparable costs of living.

The SCR also advises on the valuable business incentives the region offers.

Nigel Brewster, vice chair of the Sheffield City Region, says: “This is a fantastic achievement for the region.

“They are the sales force of the region and attracting new investment is vital.

“This region has a huge amount to offer inward investors, and we are successful because we shout about our great assets – sites, skills and people.”
