Detectives issue new appeal over gun attack in Sheffield

Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Sheffield have issued a new appeal for those with information to come forward.

They want to ensure that everyone with information on the shooting of 23-year-old Aseel Al-Essaie has come forward to help police together the circumstances surrounding the murder to help them crack the case.

Aseel was shot in his chest in Daniel Hill, Upperthorpe, on Saturday, February 18 when he arrived for a family gathering to celebrate his twin sister's engagement.

He was rushed to hospital but could not be saved.

Eight arrests have been made over the killing, with three men, aged 22, 29 and 32, arrested on suspicion of murder; a 30-year-old and two boys, aged 15 and 16, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and two women, aged 57 and 23, arrested on suspicion of assisting offenders.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "If you are yet to come forward with any information that could help officers, please call."
