Shop owner Shaniur Jahangir claimed the robbers said: “Give us the money or we’ll kill you.”

He chased the robbers down the street as they fled with the cash, but they disappeared.

Detective Constable Paul Lydon, of South Yorkshire Police, said: “Thankfully, no one was injured during this incident and the gun was not fired, but this was a highly traumatic incident for the people inside the shop.

“We are continuing to follow up a number of lines of enquiry and I would like to urge anyone who has any information about this incident to contact police.”

The robbers were Asian, about 6ft tall and slim.

Two 17-year-old boys have been arrested in connection with the incident and bailed pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
