A design for a temporary open market in Barnsley has been submitted to the borough’s council.
At the existing market, a multi-storey car park that sits above the shopping destination is to be demolished as part of the Better Barnsley regeneration scheme.
The market will be relocated during the works to a spot above underground parking off May Day Green.
It will act as a gateway for visitors arriving at the town’s bus interchange and be made from lightweight aluminium.
The temporary market is expected to be in place for three years during the development works.
