A pair of light beige jeans, a white t-shirt with a Shanghai Masters Tennis’ logo, a black hoodie and a pair of black trainers were discovered by walkers.
The clothing was found near a pond at Calton Lees, in Beeley, along with a note which was partially written in Mandarin.
Police and mountain rescue volunteers searched the surrounding area and the water but the owner of the clothing has not been found.
Officers are now urging anyone with information on who the clothes might belong to to call Derbyshire police on 101, quoting incident 467 of September 26.
