Derbyshire parents are being notified about their child’s primary school place today
Parents are today being notified about a primary school place for their child.
Derbyshire County Council will contact 11,548 parents making offers of reception and junior school places.
The majority will get their place of choice, the council said.
Of those who applied by the deadline, 94.4 per cent will be offered a place at their first preference school and 98.8 per cent will be offered a place at one of their preferred schools.
Of those who applied by the deadline, 97.4 per cent will be offered a place at their first preference school and 99 per cent will be offered a place at one of their preferred schools.
Parents who applied online or through Call Derbyshire will be notified about their child’s place today if they provided an email address or they can log on to derbyshire.gov.uk/admissions to view their allocation.
The council will write by second class post to those parents who didn’t provide an email address or who sent in a paper application.
Ian Johnson, strategic director of children and younger adults, said: “We’re pleased that the majority of parents have got their first choice of school for their child.
“More than 11,500 applications have been processed by our school admissions team – an increase of nearly four per cent.
“Their hard work has meant that once again we have been able to meet the deadline for offering places, which we know is important for both parents and children.”
A council spokesman added: “There is no automatic right to a place at a particular school. The small number of parents who have not been allocated their first choice have the right to appeal to an independent panel. The closing date for appeals is May 15.”
Anyone who has not yet applied for a place at infant, junior or primary school for their child should use the late application procedure at derbyshire.gov.uk/admissions which is available until August 31, contact Call Derbyshire on 01629 533190 or ring the school admissions and transport team on 01629 537479 for a paper form.
