Delays expected after seven car crash on major Sheffield road

Delays are expected on a Sheffield road this afternoon due to a crash.

Bus operator Stagecoach Sheffield tweeted that there has been a road traffic collision on Penistone Road.

A Hillsborough resident has sent in this photograph of what is reportedly a six-car collision on the road, heading out of Sheffield, by Hillsborough Park.

Delays are likely for motorists and bus users, it has been advised.

UPDATE: A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Police were called at around 4.05pm today (Wednesday 29 June) to reports of a multi-vehicle collision in Penistone Road, Sheffield.

“A white Ford Transit van, a grey Citroen C3, a black Audi A3, a silver Kia Sportage, a silver Ford Fiesta, a red Vauxhall Astra and a black Volkswagen Touareg are understood to have been involved in the collision, at the junction with Parkside Road.

“A number of people are believed to have minor injuries, but emergency services remain at the scene responding to the incident.”

There are also delays on Supertram services in Hillsborough, with both Yellow and Blue route services affected.
