A LICENSING board hearing due to decide on whether to allow Sheffield’s former Niche nightclub building to reopen has been postponed.
Insufficient councillors were available for the meeting at Sheffield Town Hall yesterday and it will now take place next week.
The plans, by former employees of Niche, involve reopening the premises, on Sidney Street, in the city centre, as a new members-only club called ‘Nemos’.
Janet Pope, a former Niche employee, and Francis Pearson, former designated premises supervisor when Niche reopened at Charter Square, have formed a company called Next Level Entertainment Limited, which is behind the application.
They have recruited former Niche worker Kelly Francis, aged 23, who they want as designated premises supervisor. They are seeking permission to open until 6am daily.
But police object on the grounds of ‘prevention of crime and disorder’.
