Decorations and festivities
I know times have changed, but advertisers and shops take advantage of advertising earlier, to force people to book and spend.

Hide AdThis is why we see Christmas trees in pubs early, and Christmas products being advertised in the supermarkets from September.
By the time Christmas comes, one is fed up to the back teeth of seeing advertisements, offers, decorations and functions.
When I started school in the mid-Sixties, nothing was started regarding decorations and parties until the first week in December.
There was less money around then as well.
Just to conclude, Easter eggs are also sold in supermarkets shortly after Christmas.
