Decking plans set to go ahead

PLANNERS are recommending a controversial application for raised decking at a house in a conservation area for approval despite protests from neighbours it would adversely affect their privacy and stand out ‘like a sore thumb’.

North East Derbyshire District Council is being asked to approve the application for a front porch, raised deck and retention of a rear conservatory at a house in Eckington Road, Coal Aston.

Dronfield Town Council say the development would be detrimental to the Coal Aston Conservation Area and nearby residents say the decking which would be two metres high from ground level would be inappropriate giving elevated views of neighbouring properties.
