Police are investigating the ‘unexplained’ death of a man in Barnsley.

The family of Gary Roy Collins, of Sackville Street, called police to raise concerns for his welfare on Tuesday.

After gaining access to his house, officers found the body of a man.

Police say officers are satisfied the body is that of 51-year-old Mr Collins.

A spokesman said: “A post-mortem examination has proved inconclusive and further tests are being carried out to establish the cause of the death, which at this stage is being treated as unexplained.

“Detectives in Barnsley now wish to speak to anyone who has had contact with Mr Collins during the last month.”

Anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 1114 of 18 February 2014.
