The Dean Hall column: Deano on crafty Warnock, staying up and unsung Millers heroes

Out of the bottom three and heading into the international break is a massive bonus for the Millers after last weekend’s 1-0 victory at Ipswich Town.

Neil Warnock once again masterminded another faultless tactical performance, even going as far as leaving an injured Danny Ward on the bench to keep the home side guessing on any potential changes.

From a personal point of view, I missed the match (rare, I know!) due to other commitments, but knowing the other scores coming in made the last few minutes more nervy than actually being there. I’m not one to sit on my phone at the match looking at other teams’ progress until we’ve done our job.

We were looking all but doomed a month ago, but fans of other teams I’ve spoken to this past week now see us as favourites to survive the drop - all due to the Warnock factor, which is testament to the man’s work since he arrived.

As well as Kevin Blackwell, I also think Nicky Eaden and Ronnie Jepson and the jobs they are doing behind the scenes deserve a mention - Eaden in particular arrived in very testing circumstances, days before Neil Redfearn left the club.

With England in action tomorrow night, we’ve headed over to Germany until Sunday with the usual strong Millers international crowd for a few light ales and a break from club football.

With Steve Evans’ Leeds next in town in just over a week’s time, the squad deserves their break too with the effort and application put in throughout March, before the hard yards start again for the season finale.
