Car salesmen and women are set to cycle across the region to raise money for charity.
A team of 14 members of staff from JCT600 Volkswagen will pedal nearly 250 miles in two days next month. They hope to raise £1,000 for York District Against Motor Neurone Disease, after one of their colleagues was diagnosed with the debilitating condition, and will also support the British Heart Foundation, JCT600’s charity of the year.
The ride, involving staff from its Rotherham dealership, will visit both the firm’s outlets in Sheffield – at Hillsborough and Meadowhead – as well as in Rotherham and Chesterfield.
James Warne, of JCT600 Volkswagen, said: “The team wanted to do something to show our support for a colleague recently diagnosed with motor neurone disease.
“This is one of a number of activities we are organising to raise funds for both YAMND and the British Heart Foundation.
“JCT600 has given us great support, providing support staff and vehicles as well as letting the team take time off work to undertake the challenge.
“This is the first time that we’ve taken to our bikes.
“Cycling past all 14 of our Volkswagen dealerships in the region will be quite a feat.”
