David Brooks set to leave Sheffield United for Bournemouth

David Brooks is on the verge of completing a multi-million pound move to AFC Bournemouth.

As The Star revealed earlier this summer, Eddie Howe's side expressed an interest in the Sheffield United youngster midway through last term.

And the Premier League club expect now expect to secure Brooks' signature after submitting an improved offer, believed to be worth well over £10m, for the 20-year-old.

Tottenham Hotspur had also been monitoring Brooks' progress since his graduation from the Steelphalt Academy. But their top-flight rivals jumped to the front of the queue after making an approach, albeit through an intemediary, in December.

Brooks, who signed an improved contract with United after being named in the Wales squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and the Republic of Ireland, has made nearly 40 appearances for Chris Wilder's team.

He was named as man-of-the-match during September's victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough but was forced to miss a chunk of the Championship campaign after being diagnosed with glandular fever.
